Marine Lance Corp. Rolf Jorgensen, 21, a former Seattle resident, was killed in action in Viet Nam July 20, relatives learned here today. Jorgensen's aunt, Mrs. Axel Peterson, said he was serving with the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, and apparently had taken part in Operation Hastings when he was killed. Mrs. Peterson received word from Jorgensen's mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. N.A. Todd. Jorgensen, a Seattle native, lived in Magnolia many years. He attended Lawton Elementary and Blaine Junior High and was graduated from Queen Anne High School. He has been in the Marine Corps three years and in Viet Nam since August. Jorgensen's mother and stepfather lived in Walla Walla two years untill three weekes ago when Todd, employed by the Army Engineers, was transferred to Hawaii. Jorgensen also is survived by his father, Carl Jorgensen, Seattle; two brothers, Fred Jorgensen, 24, Seattle, and Corp. Lee Jorgensen, El Toro Marine Base, Calif.; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Magnus Almaas, Seattle, and an uncle, Olaf Almaas, Seattle Click anywhere in the Vietnam photo to hide this article. |
