QAHS Alumni Picnic Set August 15, 2010 |
Centennial Spring Lunch Date Set May 22, 2010 "LET US ENTERTAIN YOU" with song, dance and a delicious spring lunch on Saturday, May 22. The talents of our alums will bring "KAPERS" to life (or whatever the title of the student talent show was in your days at Queen Anne). Audience participation is encouraged to share memories and favorite stories. So loosen up your vocal chords, limber up those dancing legs and tune up that musical instrument gathering dust. If you would like to be on stage [or share a memory] contact Glo (Gleason) Holcomb at [206] 783-9936. This is the second and last of the QAHS Centennial Luncheon celebrations. It will be at the Seattle Yacht Club, 1807 E. Hamlin St., starting at 11:30 a.m. Pre registration is required by May 10, no walk-ins allowed. Come join the fun, space is limited, sign up now to secure your reservation. You can now register online with credit/debit card or use the coupon and mail by May 10, 2010. Don't miss this once in a lifetime event. Click on this link to get directions to the Yacht Club. |

2010 BOB HOUBREGS QUEEN ANNE GOLF CLASSIC The 2010 tournament returns to Everett on Monday, September 20, 2010 so please mark that date on your calendar. Regardless of skill, QA graduates and their friends, both men and women, are welcome to play. Those who would like to donate prizes or certificates, make a donation, or be a “hole” sponsor can contact Roger Pinneo (206-346-3322) or Gordy Fouts (425-586-5617). The MOQA tournament is part of the Alliance for Education, a Seattle Public School nonprofit (501c3) foundation. After tournament play, many non-golfers come to share in the Awards Banquet and renew old friendships. A lot of golfers think they are bulletproof, but that’s not the case at this banquet, where everyone is subject to some good ribbing. So, if you are interested, drop a note to QA Golf, PO Box 294, Bothell, WA 98041 or email hawkes32@comcast.net...... Keeping the GRIZZLY SPIRIT ALIVE! |

Q A "PUB" Nights - A New TraditionRenee (Ackerman) Navlet and Scott Hogan, Class of '81 were thinking at their reunion that it would be great to have an event that included all alumni since many of us have friends and family from other QA classes. Rather than wait for 5 years between get-together's they have organized the first, and hopefully not the last "QA Pub Night" This was held on Saturday November 18th at 7:00 pm at Buckley's Cafe - 232 1st Ave West - Seattle - at the bottom of Queen Anne. There is no cost for this event other than your own food and beverage. They are planning to hold these events every 3 months or so and start a really great tradition while allowing all Grizzly's to stay in touch. If you didn't make this first event watch for additional on future "Pub" nights. |

Monthly men's luncheons |
|
On the first Wednesday of each month, QA alumni men gather at the Yardarm Pub and Broiler for lunch at 11:30 am. The gathering tends to center on Korean War-era alums from the classes of '48 through '51. Usually there are about 20 guys there (selecting from the lunch menu). The Yardarm is in Des Moines at 812 S 230th St. Call 206-824-2780 to tell them you'll be there. Scroll down on the News page for more info. |
| Camp Orkila men's quarterly luncheons |
| Quarterly
luncheons are held in the International District on the last Thursday of each quarter except December.
These little reunions at the Tai Tung Restaurant, 659 S. King St, just
South of Jackson St., are based on attendance at the YMCA 's Camp Orkila
back in the 1940s, but they are not strictly limited to Camp Orkila grads.
Also, they are not limited to QA alumni, since some of the attendees are
Camp Orkila pals who went to other high schools.
Lunch is
noon, social at 11:30. There is 2-hour meter parking in the area, somewhat
available, and a few lots. The organizer - or one of them - is Drew Miller, '73. Helping to organize car pools and reservations is Neil Vonada, '45. If you plan to attend - and perhaps want to car pool - call Drew at 284-3266. |
