Q A "PUB" Nights - A New Tradition

Renee (Ackerman) Navlet and Scott Hogan, Class of '81 were thinking at their reunion that it would be great to have an event that included all alumni since many of us have friends and family from other QA classes. Rather than wait for 5 years between get-together's they have organized the first, and hopefully not the last "QA Pub Night" This was held on Saturday November 18th at 7:00 pm at Buckley's Cafe - 232 1st Ave West - Seattle - at the bottom of Queen Anne. There is no cost for this event other than your own food and beverage. They are planning to hold these events every 3 months or so and start a really great tradition while allowing all Grizzly's to stay in touch.

If you didn't make this first event watch for additional on future "Pub" nights.

Monthly men's luncheons

On the first Wednesday of each month, QA alumni men gather at the Yardarm Pub and Broiler for lunch at 11:30 am. The gathering tends to center on Korean War-era alums from the classes of '48 through '51. Usually there are about 20 guys there (selecting from the lunch menu). The Yardarm is in Des Moines at 812 S 230th St. Call 206-824-2780 to tell them you'll be there. Scroll down on the News page for more info.

Camp Orkila men's quarterly luncheons
Quarterly luncheons are held in the International District on the last Thursday of each quarter except December. These little reunions at the Tai Tung Restaurant, 659 S. King St, just South of Jackson St., are based on attendance at the YMCA 's Camp Orkila back in the 1940s, but they are not strictly limited to Camp Orkila grads. Also, they are not limited to QA alumni, since some of the attendees are Camp Orkila pals who went to other high schools.

Lunch is noon, social at 11:30. There is 2-hour meter parking in the area, somewhat available, and a few lots.

The organizer - or one of them - is Drew Miller, '73. Helping to organize car pools and reservations is Neil Vonada, '45. If you plan to attend - and perhaps want to car pool - call Drew at 284-3266.

Class of '51 Quarterly Luncheons

Both women and men from the Class of 1951 gather for lunch at 12:00 noon at McCormick & Schmick's Harborside on Lake Union, on the first Thursday of January, April, June & October. For information contact Fern Valentine.
